I am the kind of guy that laughes at his own jokes while everyone stares confused. I am in a university studying Opt. Mgmt. with a minor in Res.Ec and IT.
I love food to the point I have given up my meal plan so I can expand my food options. I love eating more than cooking, but when the things I want to eat are not available, I have to do it myself. I am not going to bash the UMass Dining Services because they are basically run like a large chain and they cant cook what I want to eat.
Now what do I eat? I will eat anything but I mostly cook Indian and Chinese (Chinese born in India.) I try to recreate dishes my mom used to make when I was little, they are simple and do not require too much effort.
When I am not cooking, I lurk in unlikely food joints around town. Amherst has quite a vibrant selection of cuisines but most of them, in my harsh opinion are trying to be something they are not. On the other hand, there are also restaurants that remain true to their identity. If I am asked to pick my fav. places of the top in western MA, here’s my list:
Mexican: Mi Tierra
Indian: India House
Thai: Thai Garden
Moroccan: Amanouz Cafe
Pizza: Antonio’s
American: Judie’s
Bar:The Hangar Pub and Grill
Japanese: Osaka
